Wisconsin Good Government Award Supporting Organizations

Each year, the Wisconsin Good Government Award program is offered in cooperation with the League of Wisconsin Municipalities, Wisconsin Counties Association and the Wisconsin Towns Assocation.  Awards are presented at the annual conferences of these organizations in the fall.

League of Wisconsin Municipalities (LWM)

The League of Wisconsin Municipalities is a voluntary nonprofit and nonpartisan association of cities and villages working to advance municipal government. Established in 1898, the League acts as an information clearinghouse, lobbying organization and legal resource for Wisconsin municipalities. Currently, League members include 188 cities and 392 villages from around the state. The organization is governed by officers and directors representing its members.  Services include: legal resources, the League conference, training, sample ordinances, legislation, publications, handbooks, federal relations and insurance and investment options.

Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA)

WCA represents Wisconsin's 72 counties at the state level, supporting common sense and affordable public policy decisions for citizens. Services for members include an active legislative team and public relations support including Wisconsin Counties magazine and a web site. The Assocation delivers on-going training and educational opportunities through seminars, legislative exchanges and the annual statewide conference. The direction of the organization is determined by the membership and the WCA Board of Directors consistent with the parameters set forth by the WCA Constitution.

Wisconsin Towns Association (WTA)

WTA is a statewide, voluntary, non-profit and non-partisan association of member town and village governments in the State of Wisconsin. WTA's membership consists of 1,257 towns and 20 villages, and its services are made available to every elected or appointed officer of such member governments. WTA's twin purposes are to (1) support local control of government and to (2) protect the interest of towns. In furtherance of those goals WTA provides three types of services for its members: legislative lobbying efforts, educational programs and legal information.
